There Is No Crying in Baseball and There Is No License in Home Watch

The Homeowner's Perception is the Home Watcher's Reality!

In this unregulated industry, it’s up to you to know who’s truly qualified to check your home.
Licensed – Insured – Bonded
But here’s the truth:
👉 There is no official license for Home Watch services in Florida — or anywhere else in the United States — at the time of this writing.
Yet, many still use the word “licensed” in a way that misleads homeowners and creates a false sense of legitimacy.
Some may be referring to a Business Tax Receipt, which is simply a receipt showing they paid a local tax.
Others may list a license number from an unrelated business — or worse, one they made up entirely.
💡 As a lifelong entrepreneur and customer service professional, I know one thing for sure:
The client’s perception becomes our reality.
When someone sees the word “licensed,” they assume the person completed training, passed a test, and earned a professional credential — just like a Realtor, attorney, CPA, or even a hairstylist.
You can’t legally paint nails or cut hair without a license.
But somehow, homeowners are handing over the keys to their property to someone with no Home Watch-specific training, no oversight, and often no insurance.
🍟 Before I took an order at McDonald’s, I had to pass their training program.
📞 Before I took a customer call at Indiana Bell, I trained for over three months and had constant continuing ed requirements.
✈️ During my travel career, I invested countless thousands of dollars into continuing education and certifications.
That’s what professionals do. The are not "Too Cool for School" and never stop learning.
And that’s why the Certified Home Watch Reporter designation matters.
🛠️ These professionals complete foundational training, enroll in continuing education, and have access to mentorship and unlimited resources to contribute to their professionalism.
